So my question is this Would you defend death penalty if you think repenting after committing a crime is a question mark???/
Cheytha Thettiney Orthu swayam Paschathapicchu..Kuttabodham undaayi…swayam nannayi samoohatthilekku oru nalla manushyanaai thirichu rangapraveshanam cheyuka ennathanu innathey legal and penal system intey pradhana lakshyam…..That is called Reformative Justice which replaced Retributive Justice which existed in ancient and medieval times….Had we carried on the same Retributive, Narrow and Revengeful and unequal Justice system………we would have stared at the classic Gandhian quote…….An eye for an eye would leave the whole world blind……..Hence if you commit a crime, They arrest you based on evidence, and make you undergo a fair trail and the judge, following the principle of natural justice, sounds the final verdict which you serve isolated from the society, inside a jail, where you ruminate about your crimes and deeds behind bars where your freedom is severely curtailed……Activities which mellows down a rebelling mind accompanies you….like counselling….gardening, meditation…….and reading……..
This is the ideal……..But its a biased world and hence we have all sort of problems in the system…….
The larger point is this…..We have to have Compassion towards fellow human beings….even if they have committed the gravest of crimes….because Right to life doesnt come with a Right To Kill……..or Right to Die……Hence there is no need for Capital punishment. and thats why majority of the countries in this world have abolished it………By hanging the criminal we kill another person but not the crime…..By hanging him we ourselves have quenched our bloodlust and became inhuman…..Hence Genuine Repentance should be given a chance because it makes our society more civilized and more compassionate……..
